VACCINEX, INC. NAMES R. STANLEY HOLLAND AS VICE PRESIDENT OF FINANCE AND CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

Rochester, N.Y. September 28, 2001 Vaccinex, Inc. today announced the appointment of R. Stanley Holland as Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Holland brings over six years of finance and investment banking experience to the firm. Prior to joining Vaccinex, Mr. Holland served as a Vice President in the Corporate Finance Department at Morgan Stanley where he advised clients in a broad range of business sectors and managed the execution of numerous mergers and acquisitions, IPOs, private equity offerings, and other transactions. His responsibilities at Vaccinex include managing all finance, accounting and capital raising activities of the company, as well as participating with other senior executives in the strategic development of the firm.

In announcing this appointment to investors and employees, Maurice Zauderer, President and CEO of Vaccinex, said, “We are delighted to welcome Stan Holland to our senior management team. Together with the recent appointment of Ray Watkins, with 20 years industry experience, as Vice President of Operations, this rounds out some of the key executive competencies that the company will rely on to execute its strategic growth plan.”
