VACCINEX NAMES SHAUN MARTIN AS DIRECTOR, PRE-CLINICAL DEVELOPMENT

ROCHESTER, NY - Vaccinex, Inc. announced today the hiring of Dr. Shaun Martin as Director, Pre-clinical Development. Dr. Martin will become part of the team responsible for directing the transition of discovery-stage antibodies into lead drug candidates suitable for pre-clinical development. In addition, he will use his broad industry knowledge and business experience to assist Vaccinex in developing commercial relationships with biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies involved in antibody development. Dr. Martin has over 10 years of biotechnology experience and most recently was Senior Director, Business Development for MDS Pharma Services, one of the world's largest Contract Research Organizations ("CRO").

Dr. Martin received a BS in Biological Sciences from the University of Lancaster, UK, and a Ph.D. in Physiology from the University of Liverpool, UK. He did post-doctorate research at the University of Liverpool where he investigated intracellular cell signaling mechanisms and the control of insulin secretion and thyroid function. He later joined the University of Rochester School of Medicine as a Post-doctoral Fellow in Pharmacology, conducting research in the areas of receptor pharmacology and intracellular signaling mechanisms.
